Field Day Reminders

Field Day is Friday, May 25th. K, 1st and 2nd grades will have Field Day from 8:15-11:00 a.m.
 3rd, 4th, and 5th will have Field Day from 11:45-2:15 p.m.
Students MUST wear tennis shoes. Sandals and flip flops are NOT allowed.
Students will sit out of Field Day if they do not have the appropriate footwear.
Students are encouraged to wear sunscreen, bring a change of clothes, and a towel. Hats are optional.

Mavs Express

Did you know that the Maverick Express is published weekly for more than 450 Mathews families and staff? The tool is also used to publish specific grade level emails to enhance communication within our school.Would you like to be involved in the Mavs Express?

PTA Gift to Mathews

Each year, the PTA raises money through fundraising activities and works with the Mathews staff to determine how the money can be best used for the school.  The PTA recently approved its gift to the school for the 2011-2012 school year.

Math Handbooks

The Investigations Student Math Handbook is available for you and your child to use as a reference tool.
 
 It offers a valuable reference to the math words and ideas introduced in the curriculum units, as well as game directions for the games in that grade. Students and families can also use it as a reference while doing homework and playing math games.

 

Left Turn into Carpool...Take Note

Dear Parents,
Please note that the left turn sign into the carpool line on Caravanhas changed.  You may not make a left turn after 7:15 a.m. in the morning into the carpool lane.  In the afternoons, left turns are allowed up until  2:30 p.m.    Please take note and adjust your route to school accordingly.

There are several newsletters available to help you keep up to date with what is going on at Mathews.
 
The Mathews Office and PISD will periodically send information via the PISD eNews System. Parents should login to the Parent Portal and follow the link to configure their eNews subscription from the main page. To receive news from the district, be sure to check the Receive District eNews option from the Subscriptions tab. To receive important updates from the Mathews Office, be sure to select Mathews from the Elementary School list on the Subscriptions tab.
 
The Mathews PTA has a separate email system that sends both grade-level specific and school wide information to parents. Don't miss news about important dates (like Carnival and Field Day) or information on how to obtain spirit wear, order your yearbook and participate in other PTA supported activities. Sign up now for the weekly Maverick Express and information specific to your child's grade.
