Drawing of a human nose

Nose

Did you know that we couldn't taste anything without some help from our nose? The nose helps out our tongues. The ability to smell and taste go together because odors or smells from foods allow us to taste more fully. Just think about the last time that you had a cold and couldn't breathe well through your nose. Did your food taste as good? I'm sure it didn't. Also think of your nose when you have to take a liquid medicine that you don't like — try holding your nose, I bet that medicine won't taste quite as bad next time.

Did you know that you have a powerful nose? Your nose can smell up to 10,000 different odors! Your brain helps identify these smells. It tells you about your environment and helps to keep you safe. Our brain also remembers these smells. Did anyone smell burnt toast this morning?
